Shivpuri Day Hiking is a great day hike around Kathmandu to witness the natural beauty of the Langtang Himalayan range.

This Shivpuri National Park, the second-highest hill around Kathmandu Valley, located at an elevation of 2563 meters to the north of Kathmandu is home to several unique orchids, 318 different bird species, and other wild creatures. There is a hiking trail in this park that is popular with both visitors and locals. It’s a fantastic location for picnics, hiking, cycling, bird viewing, and other activities.

ITINERARY

  • Day 01: Drive to Budhanilkantha, Hike to Shivpuri peak (2732m), Return to Kathmandu

    • Drive to Budhanilkantha and go to Shivpuri National Park check post.

    Our guide will pick you up early in the morning and take you to the day hike starting point, Budhanilkantha. The southern check post of Shivpuri National Park is just a five-minute drive away from Budhanilkantha.

    • Hike to Shivpuri Peak (2732m) – 4-5 hrs.

    Once we register ourselves at the gate, we then start our day hike to Shivpuri Peak from there. We will ascend through the forest of oaks, pines, and rhododendrons. The trail is not rough and hard to walk.

    After walking a distance, we reach Nangi Gumba, a Buddhist nunnery monastery. This is the place where you will find nuns practicing Buddhism. You can gather further information about Buddhism and traditions, culture, etc. Then we move forward towards the Baghdwar, the holy place from where our Holy Bagmati River originates

    We then move forward towards Shivpuri Peak (2732m). Once we reach there, we will witness the natural beauty of the panoramic view of the Langtang Himalayan range. Also, we can see the panoramic view of Kathmandu sitting quietly.

    We will spend some time there, capture photos, and enjoy nature. Then, we will head back to our starting point using the shortcut routes.

    During this whole Shivpuri day hike, you will be surrounded by birds chirping and humming sounds. If we get lucky then we may witness some of the rare animals.

    • Drive back to the hotel

    We will drive back to your hotel from Shivpuri Park’s southern check-post.

    In the evening, you can stroll around the places in Kathmandu like Thamel, Durbarmarg, etc.
